Twofold Tap Takeover at Little Beer Quarter

Not a Valley Brewer event, but one worth crossing town for. Little Beer Quarter is handing the taps to Auckland’s Twofold for one night, and the brewing crew are coming down with them.

The lineup runs a long way across the styles: an English hand-pulled porter and a Czech dark lager at one end, a bright, snappy West Coast IPA and an oat-heavy hazy at the other. Four very different approaches to fermentation and hop timing on the same bar, which makes it a good night for side-by-side tasting rather than settling in on one thing.

The part that should interest anyone who brews: the Twofold team will be there to talk shop. They lager in horizontal tanks, which is an unusual call at their scale and worth asking about. Hop schedules, clear beer versus hazy, water treatment for a Czech dark, whatever you have been stuck on. Brewers are usually happy to answer, and there is more to learn in ten minutes at the bar than in an evening of reading.

In Twofold’s words

For one night only the Twofold crew is heading to the capital and taking over the taps at the legendary LBQ. Join us on Thursday 30th July for a pint, a chat, and a beer lineup that runs from an English hand-pulled Porter and Czech Dark Lager through to a bright, snappy West Coast IPA and an oat-juice Hazy IPA.
