Weyermann Special B

Weyermann® Special B® is a very dark Belgian-style crystal malt produced by slowly roasting high-quality spring barley. Its intense crystalization delivers a deep red-brown hue (280–340 EBC) and pronounced flavors of toffee, dark caramel, raisin and baked fruit, balanced by a subtle bread crust note. Unlike base malts, Special B has no diastatic power, so it must be mashed with a fully diastatic base malt. Recommended addition rates range from 1–20% to accentuate malt complexity, residual sweetness, and body, making it ideal for strong Belgian ales (Dubbels, Quadrupels), dark bocks, and specialty amber or brown ales. Store in a cool, dry place; shelf life is at least 24 months if unopened.
